Gone are the days when puppets sang of “ABC” and “123” along Sesame Street. All innocence aside, puppets are all grown up now and singing “What do you do with a B.A. in English” and “I’m Not Wearing Underwear Today”. It’s the hilarious songs that make Avenue Q unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Big jump, don’t you think? Watching this Singapore reproduction of the Broadway hit Avenue Q will definitely erase your memories of the good old Sesame Street days.
You’ll meet Princeton a fresh-faced college grad, Brian the out-of-work comedian, Internet porn addict Trekkie Monster, Nick the good-hearted slacker, Rod and his investment banker roommate who seems to be hiding a secret, kindergarten teaching assistant Kate Monster and of course Lucy the Slut. They get away with things that only puppets can without being arrested.
Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to make it in New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account.
